The situation of the church in particular times and places, or contexts, informs how the church understands and witnesses to the gospel. Understanding the church鈥檚 contexts is therefore a primary task of Christian ministry. This course introduces students to theological and theoretical accounts of 鈥渃ontext,鈥� paying special attention to the concept of 鈥渃ulture鈥� and its symbolic and material dimensions. Students will be led in a process of cultural analysis oriented to the church鈥檚 witness.
