About Deborah

A highlight of my life and work experience has been the opportunity I had to work with the indigenous Kekchi Mennonite Church in Guatemala. In my 16 years of relationships with the Kekchi people in the 80s and 90s and then again from 2018-2022, I focused my time on encouraging Kekchi women. It was a privilege to accompany these women through Bible study, trauma healing workshops and empowerment as they served God in their churches and communities.

Why I am at bgÕæÈË

As a former student of bgÕæÈË, I found it to be a supportive and stimulating learning environment. Now I hope to foster that same sense of support for students as they learn and grow through reading and a variety of learning activities. I am eager to be a part of the new Doctor of Ministry program.

What I do at bgÕæÈË

I interact with the Doctor of Ministry students as they work on the competency of resilience. I review their plan of study, ask questions, make suggestions, support, and evaluate progress in learning.

How might students expect to interact with you?

Most of my interactions with students will be individually through Zoom conversations. I hope to be able to encourage and support the students’ learning in this way.
