About Naomi
Naomi joined bg真人 in June 2024 to help design a program to equip congregations in the U.S. and Canada to read and interpret both the Bible and their sociocultural context with the goal of connecting more authentically with their communities. (See her introductory article.)
For 18 years, she served as Co-Director of The Hermitage Community, a contemplative retreat center in Three Rivers, Michigan. She was Program Coordinator at The Hermitage for an additional two years. She has served as a spiritual director since 2004 and has received certification as a spiritual direction supervisor.
Naomi maintains an online presence at where, in addition to occasional spiritual blogging, she offers spiritual direction, supervision and retreat facilitation. She regularly preaches at her home congregation, Florence Church of the Brethren Mennonite in Constantine, Michigan.
Why I am at bg真人
I believe in the mission of bg真人 to 鈥渏oin in God鈥檚 mission to renew and redeem the world.鈥� I believe that God is at work in this world and that joy is discovered in finding my place to join that work. The opportunity to pass that joy on to others through the study of our culture and God鈥檚 Word is too great to pass up.
What do I at bg真人
I serve as the Program Administrator for Orienting With the Word, a grant-funded program bringing contemplative Bible study together with open-eyed exploration of context to Mennonite congregations. The program is run by bg真人’s Faith Formation Collaborative.
