Tapia Rubio appointed as Practical Leadership Training Director

ELKHART, Indiana (Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary) 鈥� Luis Tapia Rubio, MDiv, of Valparaiso, Chile, began Nov. 15, 2022, as half-time Director of Practical Leadership Training for Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (bg真人) in Elkhart, Indiana.聽
In this new role, Tapia Rubio is overseeing the development and implementation of Practical Leadership Training, a series of learning modules that will help students strengthen their skills in administrative leadership and contextual engagement in congregations and other settings. The modules will serve pastors and leaders seeking continuing education in these topic areas; current bg真人 students; and participants in the seminary鈥檚 Transition to Leadership and Ministry Integrity Circles programs.
According to Jewel Gingerich Longenecker, PhD, Dean of Lifelong Learning and Doctor of Ministry Program Co-Director, Tapia Rubio鈥檚 experiences in pastoral ministry, administration, research and teaching have prepared him well for this role.
鈥淟uis has a deep love for the church; ministry experience in congregational settings in three countries; intercultural experience and wisdom; and passion for theological education,鈥� she said. 鈥淗is references describe him as highly organized, engaged in the life of the church, a self-starter and a much-loved and appreciated teacher and communicator.鈥�
Tapia Rubio is currently a PhD student in Theology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He also teaches theology in the program (Hispanic Anabaptist Biblical Seminary) and is a Research Fellow with the at Goshen (Indiana) College. He graduated from bg真人 in May 2021 with a Master of Divinity with a major in Theological Studies: History, Theology and Ethics. He also was selected to receive an Award for Excellence in Theological Studies from the seminary鈥檚 History, Theology and Ethics Department.
Prior to studying at bg真人, Tapia Rubio was involved in pastoral ministry in Chile and Ecuador and was connected to theological education in both countries. He earned a Master in Philosophy from the University of Chile in Santiago de Chile; a Bachelor in Theology from Baptist Theological Seminary in Santiago de Chile; and a Bachelor in Education and a Bachelor in Philosophy from Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso, Chile.
While at bg真人, he attended College Mennonite Church in Goshen, Indiana, a congregation of Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA. Tapia Rubio is working remotely from his home in Portland, Oregon.
