Seminary commencement to be held virtually Aug. 22

ELKHART, Indiana (Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary) — Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana, will hold its 2020 commencement activities online on Saturday, Aug. 22. The public is invited to attend a live-streamed commencement and commissioning ceremony from 4 to 5:30 p.m. (EDT) at ambs.edu/commencement.
The ceremony will honor 15 candidates for graduation who are completing degrees and certificates. Ten will earn a Master of Divinity; two will earn a Master of Arts: Theology and Peace Studies; and one will earn a Master of Arts in Christian Formation. Two students will receive a Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies.
Ben C. Ollenburger, Ph.D., will bring the commencement address. He retired from bg真人 in December 2018 after teaching Old Testament and biblical theology for 31 years and serving as director of Master of Arts programs for 21 years. Ollenburger, who is known for his storytelling abilities, also wrote (Eisenbrauns, 2004), among other books. He is a graduate of Princeton (N.J.) Theological Seminary and Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary (now Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary) in Fresno, California.
bg真人’s commencement activities were previously scheduled for early May but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the Aug. 22 commencement ceremony, there will also be an online sharing and awards program for the seminary community, the graduates and their guests, and a socially distanced in-person outdoor reception by invitation only.
